Avandia is a commonly used anti-diabetic drug that has recently been shown to cause heart attacks for some users. It has been a controversial drug within the FDA due to its increased risk of heart attack.

Some estimates show up to a 43% increase in risk of having a heart attack. It has also been linked to strokes, bone fractures and hepatotoxicity. The FDA recently formed an investigative panel and voted whether to remove Avandia from the market, which resulted in a mixed vote and led to no set conclusion. If you have taken Avandia and have suffered any major side effects such as as changes in vision, loss of appetite, nausea, shortness of breath, swelling or unusual fatigue then first and foremost see your physician, next consider obtaining legal counsel to discuss your options. The makers of drugs like Avandia have a responsibility to ensure that the drugs they provide are safe for users beyond their intended use.
