Drug manufacturers and liability

Drug manufacturers are legally responsible for ensuring that the drugs they develop and market are safe for consumers. Sadly, not all companies prioritize safety, and some release products that can cause serious harm to the people who use them.

At Frenkel & Frenkel, we specialize in taking on drug manufacturers and vendors in litigation for defective drugs.

Our team of experienced drug litigation lawyers in Dallas has successfully handled cases involving a variety of medications, including:

  • Albuterol (Proventil HFA)
  • Fen Phen (recalled fenfluramine and dexfenfluramine from Wyeth)
  • Zyprexa from Eli Lilly and Co.
  • Vioxx (recalled Rofecoxib from Merck & Co.)
  • PPA (Phenylpropanolamine from many different manufacturers).

We are actively seeking cases involving injuries and damages from using these drugs and others.

The Devastating Consequences of Dangerous Drugs

Dangerous drugs can cause devastating and sometimes fatal consequences for those who use them. These drugs can be prescription medications, over-the-counter medicines, or illegal substances. Some dangerous drugs may cause serious side effects or complications; others may be addictive or have long-term health consequences.

Unfortunately, many people are unaware of the dangers associated with these drugs until it is too late. Those harmed by dangerous medications deserve compensation for their injuries and for the pharmaceutical companies to be held responsible. This can help prevent others from suffering similar tragedies. At Frenkel & Frenkel, we have years of experience representing clients in dangerous drug cases and can help you seek the justice you deserve.

Injuries associated with Duragesic Patch (Johnson & Johnson)

For a long time, the Duragesic patch was the only fentanyl patch approved by the FDA. Alza Corp, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson, was the sole manufacturer. Today, various generic versions are available, including:

  • Sandoz (produced by Alza)
  • Mylan
  • Watson
  • Actavis

These patches come in five different dosage strengths (12.5, 25, 50, 75, and 100 mcg/hr) and are designed to provide a consistent dose of fentanyl for three days. Unfortunately, defects or leaks in the patch can lead to a dangerous buildup of fentanyl in the body and potentially cause death. If you or a loved one has experienced harm because of a defective Duragesic or generic fentanyl patch, please see a medical professional immediately and consider contacting our firm for legal guidance.

Fosamax (Merck & Co.)

Fosamax is also known by the generic name Alendronat. The drug is a type of bisphosphonate prescribed to increase bone mass and reduce the likelihood of bone fractures. It is primarily used to treat osteoporosis and Paget's disease and can be administered orally or intravenously. Fosamax side effects include osteonecrosis or ONJ, an irreversible and painful condition where the jawbone fails to heal and dies.

Zyprexa (Eli Lilly and Co.) Cases

Zyprexa users have been diagnosed with the following:

  • Diabetes
  • Diabetic ketoacidosis
  • Hyperglycemia
  • Pancreatitis
  • Diabetic-induced heart attack or coma

Ambien (Sanofi-Aventis)

Ambien has the generic name of zolpidem tartrate and is prescribed to insomnia patients. It belongs to a class of drugs known as central nervous system depressants. Ambien has been linked to strange behaviors, including sleepwalking and “sleep-driving,” where patients have been involved in accidents at home and behind the wheel.
