The firm was established in early 1994 by attorneys and brothers Mark Frenkel and Scott Frenkel, who started their legal careers as corporate defense attorneys. They soon realized that their passion for the law was not in defending corporations and insurance companies but in protecting the rights and interests of individuals. Their friend Gene Burkett soon joined, and Frenkel & Frenkel was born forged, with ownership remaining the same to the present day - over 30 years – a rarity in any business but especially the legal field. The partners agreed they would never represent insurance companies or corporations but would use their considerable legal skills to fight for the rights of the injured.
