Walk Like MADD – April 2nd, 2011
WALK like MADD – Step Up and Fight Drunk Driving When you think of the fight against drunk driving, which organization is the first one that comes to mind? If you’re like most people, you probably think of MADD- Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
One of the largest volunteer organizations in the United States, MADD has taken steps to stop drunk driving, end underage drinking, and support the victims of drunk drivers. On April 2nd, 2011, the steps become literal, as WALK like MADD, the signature fundraising event of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, takes place at a new location- The Irving Convention Center! As in almost 40 other cities around the nation, thousands of people will participate in a 5K walk to celebrate creating a brighter future, without drunk driving and underage drinking. Those who can’t walk can join in the fun, becoming “virtual walkers” online at support.madd.org, and donating to this very admirable cause. As drunk driving accident attorneys, Frenkel and Frenkel have seen first hand the devastating effects of driving while intoxicated. They often assist injured parties after they’ve been hit by drunk drivers, and are pleased with the work Mothers Against Drunk Driving does to help support these victims and their families. That’s why the firm is proud to be a sponsor of WALK like MADD, having worked with MADD in the past and continuing to support their efforts. The truth about drunk driving is truly harrowing. Consider these facts:
- Last year, 10,389 people died in drunk driving accidents.
- Every minute, one person is injured in an alcohol related crash.
- Car crashes are the leading cause of death among teenagers- and one in three of these crashes involve alcohol.
When confronted with such grim statistics, it’s hard not to want to do something to help! WALK like MADD is an effective fundraiser, for a great cause. As you plan your spring events, celebrating the end of winter by enjoying the beautiful weather outdoors, why not join in for this fun event? You’ll get fresh air and exercise, with the added benefit of donating to a worthy cause. Your participation will help support MADD’s lifesaving programs, and that’s something worth walking for!
